Puerto Rico suffered catastrophic damage, including destruction of its previously damaged electrical grid. Total losses from the hurricane are estimated at upwards of $91.61 billion (2017 USD), mostly in Puerto Rico, ranking it as the third-costliest tropical cyclone on record. Recovery got off to a slow start in Puerto Rico and starting in Dec 2017 KDF teams assisted in the recovery efforts across the North and East of the Island.
